A fancy dress parade will kick off the 100th Heritage Festival in Fethard this afternoon.

The event begins from 2pm when Banna Cluain Meala lead the parade from the Ballroom Car Park.

After that there will a range of entertainment and activities for the afternoon including a dog show, traditional craft stalls, amusements, live music and more.

It’s Fethard’s 100th Festival and Pamela Sweeney from Fethard Community Council says its a real community event that’s steeped in history:

“We celebrate a hundred years of festivals this year in Fethard which is a huge achievement.  Every year it seems to get bigger and better.  There’s a great community in Fethard so everyone gets behind this festival every year.  Fethard Community Council runs the festival and it gives back to the community more than anything else.”
