Gardaí in Thurles are investigating a fatal traffic collision which happened last evening on the road between Templemore and Templetuohy.

A pedestrian was struck by a car on the R502 at Ballinlassa shortly after 7 o’clock last evening.

The woman in her 20s was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later while the motorist did not need immediate hospital treatment.

The scene has been preserved for examination by Forensic Collision Investigators and local traffic diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them while those who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
